When Will HEERF 3 Funds Be Available?
One of the most important questions you will need to ask before you apply to any college is when you can expect to get your three funds. This is because you will need these funds in order to pay for your education. If you don’t have the funds available when you need them, you won’t be able to complete your studies. However, there are a few things you can do in order to get these funds.
W&M
A student attending William & Mary recently asked, “What is the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III?” This is a question that has echoed on campus since the first news broke about the program. While it’s still too soon to know what exactly the HEERF III will entail, we can say that it will definitely be an event to be reckoned with. Until the magic happens, it’s best to rely on the good old fashions: FAFSA. The university is also in the process of completing the paperwork to become one of the 57 members of the HEERF consortium.
The aforementioned HEERF III awarding ceremony will be held on the evening of March 13, 2020. Aside from the aforementioned festivities, W&M will also be unveiling an exciting new program, the eponymous, that will be sure to impress prospective students and their parents. In addition to a solid education, students will be treated to an exclusive, on-campus experience. Whether they choose to enroll in an accelerated undergraduate degree (A.U.) or a graduate school, their experience will be unlike anything they’ve had on campus before. Upon completion of their first day of classes, they will be greeted by a team of eminently hospitable staffers who will help them navigate their journey from high school to grad school. From here, they’ll be paired with an adviser who’s ready to guide them through the maze that is the collegiate life.
As of the writing of this article, there were only 548 degree seeking summer students at the helm. Although this is a low enrollment year, the university is still busy in the classroom.
Pace University
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) provides $39.6 billion in support for higher education. These funds are available to eligible institutions of higher education in the United States. It is part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) and is administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
Pace University is one of the institutions that received HEERF III funding. It will distribute these funds to eligible students starting June 25, 2021.
Currently, Pace has identified 3,880 current students as having exceptional need. Students who have not been contacted are encouraged to contact the office of financial aid at Pace to inquire about the status of their application. They will have the opportunity to appeal the decision.
During the first phase, Pace awarded $4,281,053 to eligible students. These funds were disbursed to Pace students via BankMobile. In addition, Pace has sent follow-up emails to eligible students who did not select BankMobile distribution.
The Pace Cares Fund awards need-based emergency relief to students. Whether a student is in need of medical or dental care, housing, technology access, or other health and wellness needs, the Pace Cares Fund is here to help. This fund is supported by generous contributions.
The average award amount per student is $1,000. Depending on the student’s enrollment and the amount of funding remaining, the funds may be used for tuition, course materials, and other expenses. However, the amount of the award cannot exceed the cost of tuition.
To be eligible, a student must meet general Title IV eligibility requirements and be enrolled in an eligible program of study. The student must also demonstrate financial need.
Penn College
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) provides the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds III (HEERF III) model. This fund provides $40 billion in funding to institutions of higher education between now and September 30, 2023. These funds are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Penn College allocated $7,365,779 to the HEERF III grant. This allocation is intended to help students whose financial aid was not automatically disbursed. Aside from providing students with the opportunity to obtain emergency financial aid, the College also recognizes the importance of ensuring that the money is used appropriately.
In an email, Penn College offered a brief overview of the program and described how to request a HEERF III Grant. Students who are interested in receiving one must complete the Emergency Response Form for Students online. They must also provide their consent to pay institutional charges.
The Pennsylvania College of Technology provided a similar example of providing a financial aid award, using a CARES Act-funded HEERF III grant. It is important to note that the HEERF III grant is not the only CARES Act-funded financial aid option available to students.
The University of Utah, for example, distributed grants to all undergraduate students receiving need-based financial aid. According to the university, students who qualify for this type of grant include those whose family income is below $65,500, or who receive a parent contribution of $4,500 or less.
Other colleges, such as Indiana University of Pennsylvania and York College of Pennsylvania, have also received funding from the CARES Act. However, the University of Pennsylvania has yet to distribute its portion of the ARP Act funds.
UNG
HEERF III funds are a federal program that support students facing exceptional financial hardship. Students who are eligible for a HEERF grant can receive up to $2,000 in emergency aid. The grants can be used to help pay for costs such as childcare, transportation, mental wellness, housing, and food.
The HEERF Act requires an institution to spend at least half its funds on student grants. In addition, schools that have received the HEERF I and HEERF II must begin using funds within 90 days. During this time, they must notify all applicants about the professional judgment involved in their aid decision.
In January 2022, the Department of Education released guidance regarding the HEERF funds. These new funds are aimed at students who are facing extreme financial difficulties, especially those who are affected by COVID-19.
Eligible students must complete a FAFSA and meet other eligibility requirements. However, those who are not eligible for HEERF III funds can contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to discuss alternative financing resources.
The funds will be disbursed to eligible students through a system called e-refund. These funds will not be taxable income. However, if the student chooses to use the funds to cover their tuition charges, he or she must grant permission. If the student refuses to give permission, the entire balance will be returned.
To apply for HEERF III, a student must have completed and accepted the 2020-2021 FAFSA. They must also be enrolled in a spring semester by February 1, 2022. UNG students must also be enrolled in a spring term in order to receive HEERF III student grants.
While a student may not be able to use the funds to pay for any existing university charges, they can use the funds to reduce their balance.
WSU Tech
WSU Tech is committed to providing students with the technical skills they need to succeed in their field of study. Students can pursue an AAS degree or a technical certificate. The program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
The WSU Tech financial aid program combines grants, loans, and scholarships. To qualify, students must meet the admission requirements, attend classes regularly, and make satisfactory progress in their coursework.
Students who receive loans should make monthly payments. The loan repayment process varies depending on the amount borrowed and how long it takes to pay it off. If you are a new student, you can find payment information on the website.
Payment for classes is due two weeks before the semester begins. Monthly statements will list your charges and any adjustments. You can make payment online through your myWSU Tech account.
Students who have paid in full will be enrolled in the courses they requested. However, if you have not paid the required fees by the end of the refund period, you will be administratively dropped. You may re-enroll if you are able to pay for the courses you originally requested.
Students with a financial hardship who are unable to make a payment should contact the Business office. A formal payment agreement may be necessary. This is an agreement between the student and the college that enables the college to post information to credit bureaus and report your account payment performance.
Students who are ineligible for a grant should consider a loan. Federal student loans are available for students in select programs. They require completing the FAFSA and registering for at least six hours each semester.
